This is was my first experience of working on a cattle and sheep farm and today was mainly about getting to know Geoff, the farmer and seeing all of his stock.
I learnt about his artificial insemination programme that he runs and the logistics of all of that and then went on to feeding the cows with pellets and hay as well as re-applying straw (which they can also eat) as their bedding.
Continued to learn about the feeding processes and learnt about how to mix the milk for the young calves.
Overall, just getting to grips with handling the larger animals.
