Update from the stables!

Well, I haven't posted in a while. This is an update of what I've been up to.

-Seamus got over his Ringworm but is recently showing signs of worms in his faeces. He is being checked out, but it should be nothing that medicine can't fix.

-In late December, Betty, the 4 year old Cob X, got a little too over-excited and bucked me off on one of the tracks. This was down to a few reasons. 1- Before this she had been losing a bit of wait and looking slightly too skinny. The stables had upped her feed and this increased her energy intake. Also due to the fact their fields are covered in mud they don't do much but stand around near the gate, therefore she was not burning the extra energy that she gained through food. So she was already over excited. To make matters worse she is terrified of traffic and we had to go past two tractors. This wound her up and made her too excited. On the first canter she felt okay, but went straight into a 'bolt' canter. On the second one she was so wound up. We started and she bolted again. I slowed her down to a steady canter, but she didn't like that. She put her head to the floor, bucked then sharply turned left. I fell off, a bit shaken but fine and she was just munching away on some grass. Typical.

-Recently, I am getting a lot better at riding and a hell of a lot more confident. I have been riding my favourite horse Huey, a 20 year old, 17hh bay horse (not sure what breed) and he is a star. He is so bouncy but amazingly comfortable. Also I rode Brock, a 14-15hh black fell pony and he's a trooper. With the slightest nudge he's off.

-For school I am in the stages of finding a work experience placement. I have applied for a veterinary surgery in Heathfield and I hope they consider me.

-Also, I have been asked to help out with lambing at my friends farm during Spring. I am so excited!

That's all for now. Bye (:
